SPLENDA® is a no calorie toxin

29 Jan

If you’ve given up Aspartame because you know it’s carcinogenic, Bravo! You’ve taken one step in the right direction. If you switched to Splenda, WAKE UP CALL, you made the wrong switch. Splenda (aka sucralose) is simply chlorinated sugar. Where else do we commonly find chlorine? In bleach, disinfectants, insecticide, poison gas and hydrochloric acid. You are not going to put any of those things in your coffee, are you? If you are conscious enough to be watching your weight or your sugar intake, I invite you to be responsible enough to make better choices. Either cut out the sweetener completely or switch to a natural sweetener.

TIPS: Agave nectar. Stevia. Organic cane sugar.

Zpak addict

28 Jan

Do you call your dealer at the first sign of a cold? You know who I mean — the MD who is willing to call in a prescription for the Z-Pak or some other antibiotic variation without seeing you just on the basis of a stuffy nose? I remember those days well, so I get it. However, NOW I get the impact of repeated antibiotic use, particularly if you are already prone to yeast-releated issues. But it works, you might say. And, you’re right. Antibiotics may wipe out the tiny little cold your body could easily fight on its own if you would just let it. But, WAKE UP this overuse of antibiotics is actually making your body less resitant to infection. So you will get sick more often. Not to mention the field day yeast will have once the antibiotics kill off the good bacteria your gut needs to prevent disease.

TIPS: Rest. Purified Water. Probiotics. Lots and lots of Vitamin C.

Crater face

27 Jan

I’m way beyond puberty and I know deep down in my soul that the huge zit on my face is a WAKE UP CALL. When you’re in your thirties (and you’re not pregnant or otherwise experiencing a hormonal shift), having huge, swollen, painful pimples on your forehead are probable indicators of hormone imbalance and/or stress. Now, here’s a secret. Not all doctors look at hormone levels the same way. Your seemingly “normal” results might be in the normal range measured against a large human population. But are they normal when taken into consideration with YOUR unique symptoms and make up?

TIPS: Integrative physician. Naturopathic doctor. This FREE event in Englewood, NJ.

Oh, my aching head

26 Jan

Do you suffer from frequent headaches? For about two years when we lived in Arizona, my husband had a headache almost every day. He had his eyes checked, fine. He upped his water intake to account for dehydration, no change. Guess when the headache went away? When he changed office spaces. His old office was 40 years old. With 40-year-old carpets, 40-year-old wallpaper, and probably 40-year-old MOLD, too. No windows, no air purifier. And this is where he spent 9 hours out of every day!

If you have a persistant headache with no clear cause, don’t live with it. WAKE UP! Start playing detective! Headaches are not normal. Headaches are a built-in alarm that something is wrong.

TIPS: Environmental pollutants in your home or office. Environmental allergens. Chemical sensitivity.

Got gas?

25 Jan

Do you suffer from bad gas? I’m talking about consistent bad gas, not the occasional kind you get from beans or sausages. The stinky, loud, painful kind of gas. If you do, this means your body does not like something (or some things) you are feeding it.

In addition to notorious top offenders such as hot dogs, beans, and carnival junk food, look to otherwise healthful food such as dairy, wheat, fructose, or soy.

If you are known for clearing out a room with your toxic emissions, WAKE UP CALL, something you are ingesting is toxic to you.

TIPS: Elimination diet. Holistic-minded nutritionist. Probiotics.
