Raise your hand if you're sure

So, in case you haven’t guessed, I’m the Wellness Bitch, not the Wellness Saint. Which means I’m far from perfect (yet), and there are certain toxic habits I’m having a hard time giving up. Not for lack of trying. Specifically, I’m talking about anti-perspirant. There were many years (decades I refer to as B.T.R, “before the rugrats”) in which I didn’t need deoderant at all. I could have run a 10K marathon (I didn’t) in 104 degrees weather and come out the other side smelling fresh. Not so now. I need some serious underarm protection. But, WAKE UP CALL, anti-perspirants are bad news. You don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself at Skin Deep. The sacrifice for pits that smell like a baby’s bottom is an increased risk for breast cancer, thanks to aluminum and carinogenic parabens often found in anti-perspirant deoderants. I’m calling myself out this time. WAKE UP, BITCH! The tips below are for you and me!
TIPS: Essential oils (tea tree or lavender). DIY deoderant with baking soda/corn starch. Stinky pits.

I switched from antiperspirants to natural deodorants (Kiss My Face was my favorite) a few years ago, but last summer my ex-boyfriend introduced me to baking soda, and I will never go back. It won’t stop you sweating, but hey – you’re supposed to sweat, and you will sweat less once your body realizes it doesn’t have to fight the antiperspirant anymore.
I keep some in an old spice bottle in my medicine cabinet: While washing up in the morning, sprinkle it on wet fingers to make a paste that dries in a thin film, and then top it off with baby powder. Sometimes I spritz a little fragrance under my arms too. I understand some people are more sensitive and need extra ingredients to reduce irritation, but straight-up baking soda works for me.
Saw this today.

Good relevant link and confirms my move to baking soda.
I’m finding that I do sweat a little bit using the baking soda, but do a mid-day freshen up and it works fine.
I might try mixing in a little essential oils. We’ll see.
